I love the sound of my supercharger in my Pontiac and was able to remove sound deadning and increase airflow to make it scream. What can I do to this turbo to really get it crank'n
intake, exhaust will make it louder.straight pipe will make it louder too.ive got an afe air cleaner on mine and at 70mph the whistle is almost annoying.(maybe i'm just gettin' old?)
I upgrade the exhaust W/O cat. And high flow muffler. I also installed a cold air intake and now it's really loud.
Now before everybody starts to tell me about the evils of aftermarket air intakes. It will make the turbo louder.
On my 03 6.0 I have been told that you can remove the silencer ring. Just some thoughts.
Have fun.
- Turbo year (2003 loudest due to fewer vanes)
- Removing CAT
- Better (larger) exhaust
- Better in-flow (air intake) setup.
- Aftermarket downpipe (although this is more for hearing the turbo whistle inside the cab versus hearing it on the street.)
My truck fits all 5 of those criteria, and it can sound like a jet spooling up
Of all those, I'll confess that no CAT, followed by bigger exhaust, were the two largest factors.
I heard an SD in a supermarket parking lot that sounded like a F-18 jet getting ready to take off...very loud turbo whine! what do I have to do to make it sound like that? I was shocked when I noticed that it was a SD making all the noise! I was looking for a jet...

My 03 is loud enough with the muffler and cat delete, straight piped you have to sneak through town, what fun is that? It has a good tone and sounds like a jet but I don't alert the cops 6 blocks away when I lay into it.
