Before I ask in the proper forum, I thought I'd ask here first: Trying to upload pics to one of my older galleries, all I get is a pic symbol. Anyone else have this problem?
The photo's will download into an individual post, but I can not download into the galleries - I just get the x-box.
I tried with IE7 and IE8 - no go.
I built my "system specific" galleries about a month ago - well after the upgrade, and have downloaded the new electrical drawings I create, as I make them. This is a recent developement that is less than a week old.
And I thought it was my new Nikkon CoolPix camera. Thank God I am not the only one having this problem. At first it would not upload anything, then today it uploaded but it only showed a big red X for the pictures. I have never had such bad luck loading pictures as I do with this site. I hope the problem (what ever it is) gets resolved soon.
By the way, does anyone know if the administrators at FTE actually monitor these problems and get them fixed? Is anyone in control of this site give a hoot?
I've also noticed the edit functions on the posts are not working properly - they don't save correctly.
I'll try to be objective. My impression is that there are certain things the administrators deem important and there are certain things they deem un important.
Ususally, with picture problems like this, if they aren't monitoring the threads, then someone like Havi, or myself will write a note to them (simply because we happen to know their call letters) and bring it to their attention. Or we will write directly if we feel it might be an individual problem.
However, FOMOKO1 is our moderator here and although he has certain powers, they are limited. He also has a link to the IT gods if you want to contact him to pass a note. Usually he's aware of the problems and gets with the IT guys in pretty short order. That might work better - getting one e-mail through the moderator rather than 100 of us sending "poor" [sic] Adrian 200 e-mails. (But hey if you guys want to bombard him just for grins, I'll help)
Usually they are very diligent about getting photo downloading problems fixed ASAP.
In other areas, like trashing the new useless search function and reinstalling the better one we used to have, my impression is they don't feel it's important to have a useable search function and my three e-mails and my request to change it through FOMOKO1 have been completely unanswered (by the administrators, FOMOKO1 sent it right up).
It's a Holiday weekend and if it's not a quick fix, I wouldn't expect to see it fixed until next week.
And I concure, this site has about the worst photo posting scheme I've ever seen. That's from the difference between site software architects/engineers, and site users setting priorities.
But as you may have noticed, about 80% of the questions have already been asked and answered a number of times: 12 volt conversion, IFS, wheels and tires, getting th eflattie started after 10 years idle; and th einfamous (which hasn't showed up lately) my blinkers don't work right......
It's fun to talk, but when you have ramble fingers like I do sometimes it really saves on the typing if you don't have to "do" that 75 post thread all over again - especially every three weeks! Or have to explain the generator circuit signal flow 6 times in one month.
One other thing that concerns me is that the discussion and input on a certain problem may be the ONLY documentation about that problem in existance. I hate to see that kind of technical information vanish because we have an El Cheepo records recall capacity.
thats true, you dont see info like this anywhere
dont laugh, but my turn signals dont work... just the ones up front tho.
i havent even been here very long and i've noticed alot of repeat threads apearing lol, but i've got the hang of the google advanced search, it works great.
