C6 shift kit install

I will be putting a Transgo kit in my C6 soon. Does anyone have any installation tips? Can I install it ok with the tranny out of the truck? Like I mean tranny tipped on it's side on the ground?

It would be easier to keep the little steel ***** in place if you turned it upside down (pan facing up). Also make sure you buy or at least rent/borrow an inch-pound (NOT foot-pound) torque wrench to re-torque the valve-body. I've seen the trannys fail to shift either right away or even after several thousand miles because the valve body was not torqued correctly during assembly. Good luck, Deen

hey deen
i am curious--why does it matter if you use a inch lbs wrench to torque the valve body? my C6 was working fine until i installed the B&M shift improver kit---i didnt use an inch lbs wrench--just the snug it up--and feel method. Now the thing is acting real crazy...it has morning sickness symptoms and when it does warm up, the shifts are sometimes hard n snappy or erratic--what gives??

regards
ben

Ben, I'm not familiar with that particular shift kit but you can call B&M for technical assistance.
As far as retorquing the valve body correctly...The valve body has to maintanin a certain amount of hydraulic pressure to control the shifts in the tranny. If you have a leak ANYWHERE in the valve body it will not function as designed. Not enough torques and you'll leak around the gasket surfaces...too much torque and you'll warp the valve body so it again will leak.
