That is just what they do Brian. You are hearing the "excess" air kinda souns like Darth Vadar from Star Wars. It is even more prominate if you just had the 6637 with no box around it.
That's cool man! I just did a 4" with Pete (7.3 Rocket) on his truck last weekend it went very smoothly. Do you have someone to help you? With the downpipe at least?
Yeh my wife. lol
must say Im a bit nervous bout the whole thing. Most over here put in a 3.5" down pipe then go 4". Apparently there's not much room cause of the right hand drive thing. Only one way to find out.
You'll get it in. Pete's truck was lifted just enough that the pipe went up with no issues at all. If need be jack the front of the truck up just enough to snake the down pipe up. Then youe wife can hold it from the bottom while you attach it to the turbo. Just be patient it is a tight fit and can get frustrating at times.
Brian...Looks like you have spent alot of time cleaning your motor and getting things lookin' nice since I seen your last picture.Doing good man!Dust is a motor demon, sticks to everything
How long did it take to do the whole system Jim, including the dissassembly?
It only took us about 2 hours to do the exhaust system. I cut it off with a sawzall. Including the nubs on the stock hangers (quicker than trying to get them through the rubber hangers) I cut the down pipe so that I can stick a bar into it and wiggle(front to back) it to break the seal free from the turbo. I do this after I loosten the clamp it helps with clamp removal also. The new system went in in about 20 minutes after the old one was out. The 2 hrs also included a couple of BS breaks.
Well it took me about three beers. two of em were on that bloody downpipe.
Couldnt crack the seal on that clamp, then after that had to bend the Tranny filler tube to get the pipe out. There is no way that 4" is gunna fit up there.
There's gunna have to bit a bit of cuttn and bendn. Will put sum pics up in the morning. Its fridie night now and Im half stung.
Here is a shot frpm under the truck with the downpipe removed
Now there looks like there is heaps of room, but when ya get up the top that filler tube gets in the way of the flanged part that has to clamp on to the turbo.
Those two arrows on the panel join is where it needs to be cut and folded back. The new 4" will rest against the up pipe (which are leaking) and just fit if I get rid of that lip.
