Can someone go out and have a look at theres.
Im interested to know if the cabin well sticks out as much as mine
(just near the back of the manifold/upppie join)
No problem Brian. Sometimes if you jack up the front of the truck it gives you more room to manuver the down pipe. I was lucky I did mine in a garage that had a lift.
Well its now dark and I have spent all day tryn to get the downpipe in.
It aint gunna go.
I had to cut away almost all that area marked.
the difference in size is insane. I can get it right up to the base of the turbo.
Only need another inch and a half but the back of the radius is up against the firewall and the tube down below is jammed between the back of the manifold and that crease I have cut back.
As you can see the radius is completely different. It looks like to me that a piece needs to be taken out between the turbo flange and that radius then join it back up again.
I cant see how being right hand drive could make such a difference. All the engine components are in the same place.
OK, Brian. What I had to do was to get a long pry bar and beat the firewall in about 1/2" where it was hitting. I also had to beat the down pipe in about the same where it hit the firewall. Just like yours, just below where the curve is on the down pipe. My down pipe would fit without beating the firewall, but it was touching it and was resonating inside the cab so bad. Don't let the pipe touch anything or you will be taking it off again. Looking at your pic, you will have to do some beating on the pipe itself. It still will be better then the 3" with beating the crap out of it.
Thx Rick
The more I look at it the more I have realised this aint gunna be a bolt on application. Was thinking if I cut the pipe up near the weld near the back of the turbo, took out an inch then weld her up a gain that would get it of the firewall up top. Then take it up to the exhaust shop and get them to bend the bottom section out which will get the section near the tranny sorted. And what you said with the bellow in the mid section or try a porta power on the seam and try and fold it back. Have had a couple of goes with the porta power but the holl cab seems to move with it
Most muffler shops can't bend 4" pipe down here. Might need to take it to some kind of big truck shop. I would also put the next pipe in place to see how far you are from lining things up.
Looks like you will have to do some custom bending and cutting on that thing. What you said about cutting some off and weilding it back together sounds like the plan.
Got all the other pieces in which made the down pipe look worse. I dont know what truck that thing is made for but I can bet my left one that it aint for this. Im welding up my old system as we speak. Its off to the shop tomorrow.
Let him try and work it out
I think your are right Dan. I will let the exhaust shopt know that i would prefer the 4" but if thats a no go then 3.5. It would of been a lot easier if the right down pipe was shipped in the first place.
