Hello, i am hearing a strange sound in my Bronco´s C6.It is like "yiic-yiic" and when the Bronco go faster the noise go faster too "yic-yic-yic-yic-yic". I don´t know if it is caused by a low ATF level. On the dipstick Ford says "Check when hot iddling".This means that it must be checked when the engine cold and running with the starter
(fast idle) or when the engine at normal operating temperature and normal idle?.
A low ATF level can cause excesive friction on the discs and it is the cause of the strange noise?
Any help wecome!
Thanks
Hiya Joe! What they mean by check when hot is.. Go drive around untill every thing is nice and warn and flowing. Then with it in park check the level and while it's running But remmeber Dont put to much ATF in, to much is bad..... The noise might be from a really low level of fluid. I'm not to good with trannys but i'm sure some one will be more then happy to help you out
Hi Joe, if your noise only happens when the truck is moving and gets faster with road speed, you may have some driveshaft ujoints seized. Remove the rear joint from the axle flange to check ujoints for free movement or lack of movement.
Thankyou both!
Ok, i removed the driveshaft, checked the u-joints and they looks well. Next i greased the needle bearing between the 2 u-joints on the driveshaft´s front and in the grease point on the middle of the driveshaft.Later i check ATF and add some of 1/2 liter of ATF
to level with all the engine and trans at his normal operating temperature. Now looks the noise is missing!
I hope the tranny don´t have any damage from to ride the Bronco at low ATF level!
Thanks again!
