Ok my dad has a 95 F150 w/5.0. If he has it sitting in park and revs it up to around 3000 rpms then he let off and the truck idled back down and it died on him. He said it happens when the motor is warmed up or cold. It doesnt matter. Any other time if its in drive it runs perfect. He thinks that a idle control is going bad. Not sure. Any ideas on the problem and a fix to it?
I would grab some throttle body cleaner and give the IAC a good cleaning. It sometimes is too late for a cleaning....but I suspect you've got about a 50/50 chance. If that does not work I would try a new IAC.
Let us know how it turns out.
i will. i think my dad is gonna go get a new IAC this afternoon. He doesnt really fool around with taking the time to clean it just to were he has to replace it 6 weeks later. he'd rather replace it now.
You do not have to reset the computer after changing an actuator (IAC valve), only sensors.
Actuators are operated by the computer and sensors give information to the computer.
Subford - I replaced my ECT sensor last week and reset CEL so codes don't show anymore. Should I have removed battery as a reset as well? It's running great without doing that.

Yes you should unhook the battery for at least 15 minutes after replacing a sensor to kill the learned memory. Then it will take about 10 miles for the computer to relearn all of the sensors and your driving habits and run right.
