Over the last 2-3 months I have noticed that the drivers side window switch has been giving me problems. You lower the window and when you push the bottom for the window to come up nothing happens. Then I push it multiple times until it finally goes. No other switch has this problem. Has anyone heard about this or have any ideas on how to fix without getting a new one?
It is not difficult to change the switch. I suppose you could clean the contacts, etc. on the one you have which might help, but you have to get at the switch so I would replace it.
As they've said, it's very common. I've removed mine to clean up the contacts 3 times. Each time it works for a few month and then becomes intermittent.
Did Ford change the contact design or material? I'm guessing the replacement will be just as bad.
Yup, seems very common, as I had the same question about 6 months back about my '06 Screw. All window swtiches from the drivers door worked fine, except for the passenger rear had the same hit or miss issues yours does now. Had the swtich replaced under warranty and all has been fine since. (knock on wood).
So I went by the dealer today to get the switch changed. Service guy told me there were to other trucks in for the same problem. Switch got changed and all is well for now. Dan (y2k) thanks for the offer and time.
Do you have to take the inside door skin off to get at the switches or just the door handle that the switches are in? My drivers window is acting up again. Can you get at the contacts to clean them easily? I'm wondering why they corrode so quickly and maybe a dab of dielectric grease will help solve the problem?

Just remove the panel the switches are in. They don't corrode or that's what I've noticed on mine. There is a black carbon layer that is building up and preventing electrical contact. Plus with each time the switch arcs, a small amount of the contact material melts and is displaced. The switch will eventually need to be replaced.

Panel? You mean the door 'handle', right?
I wonder why other vehicles don't seem to have this problem so often. There are a few truck models where this is a common occurrence but it doesn't seem to be an issue for most vehicles.
Is it covered under warranty if it is still within the warranty period? Mine is acting up also and I have a few thousand KM to go.
Yes it's covered under the basic 3yr/36K mile warranty. As stated before by myself and many others, we've had ours swapped for free under warranty.

From what I've read, it's due to the design of the window switches and door handle panel. Again just what I've read from other users outside this thread and on other forums, is moisture (rain, melted snow, etc) makes its way into the switch panel. Of course others state it's the design on the contacts. Who knows for sure, maybe it's both of the above. Either way, it's a design flaw that Ford should look into. Wonder exactly how many of these they've replaced under warranty, as well as outside the warranty period. Seems to be a mjor issue on every site I frequent.
