I have an 2001 Expedition Triton V8 with about 108,000 mi. There is a sueaking noise coming from the right side of the truck only when in motion. At first thought it was a belt, but that looks OK, nothing loose. Sound only happens when driving, nothing when I am in the driveway. SOund is not constant, sometimes I can drive 1/2 the day and not hear it. Other times it happens all day. Sound does not go away when I hit the brakes. I recently had the front brakes done anyway. LAst summer a shop told me it was the front bearings, which I replaced but sound did not stop. When the sound is there and I am slowing down the sound decreases in volume and then stops.
Have you tried bouncing that corner of the truck to see if you could get it to squeak? If so the first place I would look is at bushings and the lower ball joint on that side of the truck.
I'd also say check the sway bar bushings. I developed an intermittent squeaking sound while driving and more noticable when going over bumps. Ended up being the sway bar bushings needing replaced.
My 99 squeaked for about a year, then the lower ball joint broke. After replacing all 4 ball joints, the squeak is gone. THe new ones have grease fittings on them.
