My 2003 5.4 Expedition just started making an intermittent high pitched squeal from the front end a few days ago. From outside the vehicle, it sounds like someone letting air out of a balloon slowly, that high pitched noise you get.
It starts at about 10 mph and doesn't end until you stop moving. It will sometimes go away when turning corners, but always occurs when driving straight. Eventually, after about 10 minutes of driving, the sound will go away for the entire trip. At first the sound switches to a pulsing sound, then eventually goes away, even if you stop at a stop light/sign. I have noticed that sometimes the noise won't happen at all.
I checked power steering fluid and it's ok. Break pads are ok, I do have a sticking passenger caliper that is on my to-do list.
), if you turn up your speakers you can hear the noise (ignore ABS light, fuse pulled due to a failed speed sensor). The sound starts, then stops around the corner, then restarts when I start going straight.
