to replace my '94 4.9? I know this isn't the engine swap section but I thought I might have a better chance of getting an answer over here. Anyway, what all would I need other than the obvious motor and mechanical parts? I've never done a computer controlled engine swap so I'm not too sure what all electronics I would need or would be necessary to replace. I assume the main things would be a computer and harness.
Yes you'll need all those things, and a transmission too if you opt for the 460. Neither of these swaps is going to be simple since you're starting with a 6 cylinder, but at least the 5.8 will bolt up to the existing tranny. You will also need the frame perches and mounts for the V8 as well as the rad.
Go for around an 88 or somewhat newer 460 from an RV. Usually it's low mileage and the 88 was fuel injected but had limited computer control with the old OBDI system.

I could swear my 93 460 had an E4OD. Maybe not.
I hear ya on starting from scratch. Probably gonna cost me a small fortune by the time I get all the necessary V8 parts together. Might be easier to find a van with a 5.8 and go from there.

If I went that route, I don't know even where to begin looking for one. A regular bone yard?
