DA question

Not District Attorney, i'm on a first name basis with our county DA. Anyway, i need a DA for sanding my truck primer/filler. Can i use my angle grinderr with a sanding wheel? Or is the Dual Action, DA, really necessary.

Thanks

You need a sander not a grinder. DA's are most popular, but even a jitter bug sander will be an impovement.

Believe most DA's are air operated, and the electrical DA's are very expensive. I went and purchased a 'random orbital' electrical sander and seems like it is a suitable substitute, making sure to take precautions if working with water and electrical tools.

Yep, you should be using dual action for the finish sanding. Rotary sanders with leave nasty grinding marks that would show in your paint job. The slower dual action of the da is your friend. The faster single action is good for material removal.

DA or random orbit is the way to go. Grinder with sanding disc will leave marks and can easily gouge the metal, even with fine grade paper.
