I have been searching on here for a while & could not find the answer to my question. I have a 1997 F-450 Super Duty 7.3 that I use for towing. I want to install a 6.0 intercooler. Is there a company that makes a tubing "kit" for this install? What about the intake pipes to the heads?
Banks made a tubing kit that came with everything but the intercooler, I'm not sure if they still make them. There was an intercooler with piping to fit our trucks on ebay a few weeks back.
Thanks for the info. A friend of mine said that there was a place in South Carolina that was making a tubing kit, but he could not remember the name of the place.
There is a guy that makes them on EBay. He usually has one set listed, starting bid of $165. A search of 7.3 intercooler brings it up. I have never had any dealings with him, but from the pictures they look good.
About 2 months ago I checked the price of the banks pipe kit. I had to call and talk to a rep directly it is not listed on the web or catalogs (at least that I could find) at that time it cost $404. Which I didn't think was that terrible of a price considering every thing else they sell is so high. It basicly consist of everything including the spyder, but not the cooler itself. I didn't pick it up, so I can't say for sure on what it has and the quality, I am slowly just getting the parts piece-meal over time instead
$400 for a Banks kit sounds like a steal to me. I paid about $300 for just the Banks spider when I put mine together. But when I did mine the early 99 Ford spider was not available. It's pretty easy to make a set of pipes if you can weld, I modifed a set of 7.3 pipes for mine.
I thought the price wasn't that bad, I never checked the price of the spider itself, they want something like 1200 for the cooler itself. I think that if you use a 6.0 cooler or want to run it higher than they have figured (IIRC it hangs pretty low becuase that way you dont have to mess with the hood latch) you need to seciton the pipes and weld them up.
If you can't weld I think you could get away with running extra boots although I havn't tried it.
