I am in the process of getting a new head unit for my expedition. It has the premium factory system (amp&sub). An installer told me today that I need to use a separate adapter to turn the factory sub amp on or it will blow within a week. Unfortunately the install company I used to use closed it's doors and I don't really trust this guy. Can anyone verify. I will be installing a kenwood ddx-714 with camera and pac-swijack adaptor - but will be leaving everything else alone for now. They also want $325 for the deck, camera and pac & I guess this adapter (called it a sven4). seemed a little steep to me. Thanks in advance, Mike.
Metra does show a factory amp integration harness, pn 70-5521.

I don't think it will burn up, but might pop if you don't add the resistor.
