i found a website called my hot f150 and ordered a surge performance chip supposedly it wires into your intake air temp sensor claims to add 15% more horsepower just wondering if anyone has heard anything about these things any help will be appreciated
Yes...Yes we have. They are well respected here. I'm sure it will add all types of power to your rig. While you're at it you should also add one of those tornado/vortex thingies to your intake, should give you 3 to 5 more mpg. Don't forget the HHO hydrogen generators; good for another 5mpg.
[/sarcasm]
Get your $$$ back, they don't work. Nothing referenced above works.
Welcome to the forum! Do a search, there are legitimate, reliable ways to get more horse power using a programmer.
hey thanks for the great attempt at sarcasm i like the way you think i was just hoping to save money this surge chip only costs $100 but if it doesn't work it's still a waste of cash
Anytime, that's what we're here for (the help, not the sarcasm). I checked out that website and it looks like they sell programmers and some other good stuff. Kind of ironic that they also sell the snake oil right beside the legit stuff
that "chip" is a worthless POS...and will probably break your truck.
the "chip" alters the air temp that the IAT reports to the PCM...basically it tells the PCM that the incoming air temp is 60F...even if it is 90F outside.
The PCM thinks there is cooler denser air coming in, so it dumps more fuel
more power, but at the expense of MPG's, and eventually a bad O2 sensor
