surge idle

I recently got a 90 f-150 5.0 5 spd. It doesn,t want to idle at warm temps. The engine wil surge between 500 and 1000 rpm and stumble when throttle is opened quick. Previous owner put in a power chip, but i'm not sure if it was a good chip. Could this be causing the problem with idle. Where is the computer located and where can i get a factory original chip ? Cuold the problem be tps or map ////??

Start off by checking for vacuum leaks & then retrieve the diagnostic trouble codes & see what they are .
