I'm sorry! In an effort not to be too long winded, I may not have made my point clear. The truck will turn over and crank fine, it just will not start unless the WTS light comes on and times out. My problem is that it will not always come on and in rainy weather(may be a fluke) it will not come on at all and will not start at all...thanks, Tony
....UPDATE.... Thanks to Bdrummonds, I decided to go out and check as many plugs/connections as I could while it's raining. I checked all plug connections I could see, pulled apart and reconnected, nothing happened. I then checked all ground screw connections to firewall and inner fenders, cleaned and reinstalled, tried the key and the light came on and it started. This could have been another fluke, I turned it off and back on, and it started again. I truly hope this fixed it, but I'm not jumping with excitement yet. I will keep you posted, I will try it again later and let you guys know. Thanks a Mllion for your help and patience...Tony
O.K. round two,
Under the hood, on the drivers side firewall there is a large 42 pin connection, It is under the brake resevoir, and down low. in the center of this connctor is an 8mm nut, make sure it is tightened down, and the 42 pin connector is secure. then follow the main wiring harness from this connector over the framerail, and check around the harness near the shock tower, they have a tendency to chaff there. If all is good there, follow up to the square connctor on the drivers valve cover, Yep, another nut to be tightened, and another chaff point. Somehow, someway, your PCM is not getting power and is not sending a signal to energize the GPs. It is not neccessarily the GPs that allow the engine to start, but if the PCM has intermittent power it will not fire the IDM(injector driver module), and the truck wont start.
I would normally say it was the fuel bowl heater, but it would not be intermittent, and there would be a blown fuse. Since the PCM is not getting power sometimes, I doubt there would be a code, except for a 603 KAM(keep Alive Memory).
Its got to be in the main harness, or the steering wheel harness. did you try to raise the tilt on the wheel, and start, did you wiggle the gear selector?
