Got actual evidence for the claim that half-ton buyers would rather have cars?
How 'bout your own words: "As for towing, most pickup owners don't even own trailers."
What would you remove from the "overbuilt" F150 to change it? How would that be different from an Explorer?
I wouldn't remove a thing. That's why I bought my '07 FORD 1/2 ton instead of a DODGE...I needed that capability. It's different from an explorer because an explorer doesn't have an available 162" wheelbase, factory installed brake controller, 9.75" axle, 5.4L V8, solid rear axle, OR as much ground clearance.
An Explorer won't tow 11,000 lbs, nor will an '09 Ram...an F150 will.
What exactly would the vehicle you want look like, weigh, be capable of, and have for a drivetrain?
Much like THIS:
Just dropped $34K on it, and it's safe to say this is what I want. I NEVER, EVER said I wanted a Ram...just that I thought it was a good redesign, that's all .
