well seeing as you are prepared for sticker shock to some degree your set . check out reds headers and speed equipment , honest charlies , speedway , schneider cams , egge machine , then go to y blocks foreever , a web site dedicated to 'em . i'm there every once in a blue moon myself . i was gonna go fe , i.e. 352 , 360 , 390 , 427 , 430 428 etc. in my big un just because of the shear mass i felt more torque was needed . i have a 292 sitting here that i have been back and forth on but cannaot see or bring myself to pull the flatty outta the 53 so .............. geuss after all is said and done with her and i get the bird prepped done for strip duty i'll have to find another old truck .....like that early 60's shortbed slabside { ya know the ones the bed lines dont match the cabs and we all think the bed has been swapped ! } i found out by loami .....................................

oh yeah gotta thank stu for that one , the 292 that is ,or am i blaming you buddy as my wife thinks i'm crazy and just looking for an excuse to drag another home ..................

well i know the y-blocks forever page has some really neat stuff and blue thunder makes a 4barrel aluminum intake for them. Im planning on adapting a NV4500 five speed transmission to my 292 in my 59 thats if i ever get to work on the darn thing. and if you are still in Sheridan go see top end about the rebuild he might have some good ideals and sources for parts.

here's my Y block

Just fire her up last week ,it had been setting for 4 years. I don't know with Y block I have ..It in a 1952 F-7 big job truck.. can some tell with one I have..[IMG]
