Does it kind of cough and belch when you apply throttle? This is what happens when your EGR is dirty and not working properly.

egr was recently cleaned, last month, i do it like 2 times a year now, cause i've seen their problems, and checked the maf sensor, clean as new, but today while driving, it surged then started idleing funny, got 2 codes out of it, po286? cyl 8 imbalance, then po300 random multiple misfires.... any ideas?

mine is doing this also I have an 03 F350 that I jus swapped out the 03 engine for an 06 6.0L because of a dropped valve. I put an Edge Juice with Attitude programmer and a custom made 5inch air intake. I am gonna try taking my programmer out tommorrow to see if it makes a difference because everything was fine until I put the intake and programmer in. I am starting to think its either VGT related or something as simple as a partially plugged catylitic convertor building too much backpressure. I have no codes being thrown though so it seems odd if I have to I will pull the performance add ons and sell it to get another Dodge I have had Superduties in the past and always had trouble with turbos but the price was right on this one, it's frustrating for sure I am curious to hear what some of you find on this issue. mine idles super smooth but when I start driving at speeds between 25-80kmph with the gas pedal held steady you can hear it "blow off" in the intake and notice a small puff of black smoke or when you suddenly release the gas pedal even at slow speeds and low rpms you hear it blow off too its not only hard on mileage it totally robs acceleration power as it almost seems to flutter like it cant seem to make up its mind to apply boost or not unless your foot is almost on the floor, tps sensor maybe? or combination of?

update

the po300 code cleared, but the cyl eight is still the, icp sensor was changed when i did the egr cleaning, not very long ago.... did the ficm fix anything? i brought it to my dealer 3 or 4 times before i realized they were useless, about 1 year ago, they threw a new egr, turbo cleaning, and high pressure pump at it, none did anything and the cat is deleted...

Is your ICP under the turbo? If it is look at the harness and check for oil into the heat wrap or 3 purple wires. You describe ICP problems. What code is 286?, 2286 is a ICP code.

no my icp is on the valvecover, the code is cyl 8 miss or imbalance, and it's a hard code, it won't clear with the scanner, and this only happens when it's warm out. never during the winter... maybe that makes a difference..

Have you changed the fuel filters lately?I would take the time to check fuel pressure. That #8 injector might be the first one to go from low fuel pressure.

Only way to check fuel pressure is w/ an aftermarket gauge. The pressure should ALWAYS be above 45 psig.
