cleaning fpr screen

I have read about it on here but can't find it now, so if someone would be so kind as to post a link to a good post with directions, picts would be good also, on how to clean the fuel pressure screen, I would appreciate it. I have had the fuel filter since last fall but have put off changing it. Thank you.

Just pull the fuel filter out and it is on the drivers side. Its just a little hole with a screen in it in the canister. Just clean it and the canister and install new filter and you're done.

not to hijack or anything but at the bottom of the fpr there is a plastic tube like thing that is black that apears that it would hold a screen of some sort, i tryed to get the bugger out but it wont budge, i was assuming that was the screen and not that little metal ring that looked like more of a guide than a screen!

If you take the fpr off there there are 2 10mm bolts that hold it to the filter housing you will see the screen that enters the tube in the filter housing that screen gets plugged up and with it off you can basically brush it off, becareful there is a aquare oring that goes around that tube. On the bottom of the fpr there is a small black canister about the size of an old 35mm film canister unscrew that and inside there is another filter screen basket, you simply pull that one off and can clean it out with some clean or compressed air, put it back together and should be good.

Oversize, I have never looked inside the fuel filter housing, but once I look into it, your directions will make more sense? Thanks.

MY FPR also has the black plastic bowl type thing hanging off the bottom. I have never been able to get it off to clean it out, I'm scared the sucker is going to break.

Clean out the bottom of your fuel bowl while you're at it or it could oxidize and blow a hole in it like my first one did. You'll need a crow's foot wrench to get the tube out of the middle. It's a reverse thread, BTW.

True Jose
That plastic bowl is on the '94.5 - '95. It is not on the '96 - '97.
