Then they had the same wrench along with some holder thingy that was in between. Are these my only good options, or is there another way. I'd rather not have to pay that much for something that I will only use this one time and that's it.
Its a large open end wrench that attaches to an air tool in a jack hammer type action to break it loose.

Wrench for Fan is 1 7/8 “ or 48 MM
Wrench for holding pulley is 54 MM.
Must use both wrenches to remove fan. This is the most difficult part of the water pump change

Wrench set is:

OEM part # 27141,, but not Ford part #,
OEM is the brand name of the wrench set. I borrowed one from Autozone.

The wrenches are basically open but only 3/8" thick to allow them to fit side by side in the close quarters between the water pump and fan.

Note this what I used on a 2000 7.3

Thanks for the info guys. I actually rented/borrowed a set from the local o-ry-lees. Have to throw down some cash, but if it's returned within 48 hours and all there, you get ALL of it back. So I told them I'd have it back by 8am tomorrow!!!

Autozone does the same thing, just without the time limit. FYI for the next one.

Thanks for the info guys. We don't have any autozone's in this area, but I'll store it away for future reference if I ever move again!!
