The code on my sticker is 18 which I think is a open 3.08 gearrearend. How do I find out what front axle I have? and What transfer case I have? The truck is a 87 F150 4x4 4.9 efi.
Sticker show built in 3/87. Thanks for the replies in advance.
mike
The rear is an 8.8, the front is a d44 TTB, but it has 3.08 gears. Front and rear gears must be within 1% of each other.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Heavyduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Weighs around 7,000lbs w. 65mph top speed, who wants to race me!
And the trasfer case should be a borg warner 13-56. Crawl under there, it's stamped right on it.

Just throwing my two cents in here, but I've got a question. When I was researching possibly dropping the gear ratio in my truck, I found the 3.08 in a standard rotaion only for the D-44. Aren't the D-44 front ends a reverse rotation? If they are, the smallest ratio that I can find is a 3.54.
Not saying you're lying Mike. Maybe my info is wrong.
thanks for the input. Tranny is 4 speed.
Not sure what gears I have in the rear. The axle code on the sticker is 18 and I seen somewhere that that means its a 3.08 regular. I am doing some more research on it .
