auto enginuty

ok after being stranded in my drive way for the 2nd day and the sct dosent pull a code im left thinking i need something that i can read codes that im guessing are not showing on my sct. i had thought about the auto enginuty but after doing a quick search it dosent look like it would or will be much help. what type of diagnostic tools are avalible that i can run off a laptop that will allow me to know what is going on with my truck? is there any software avalible to flash stuff like ficms etc? with the chance of getting a 1000+ bill on this truck since it is out of warranty i would like to invest in being able to troubleshoot it my self after hearing alot of dealers throwing expensive parts in to try to see if it fixes it.

the ae software will tell you just about anything you want to know, it isnt that hard to use either. you have to get the enhanced ford package or it will not work. Because of the gvw in the 6.0's they are exempt from OBDII.
The basic ae package will not work with CAN that the 6.0 uses.
The latest update I got from ae now supports like 400+ sensors. You can run buzz test, cylinder contribution tests, glow plug tests and more. You can also view live output from most if not all of the sensors in the engine.
I don't think there is any such software affordable enough for us to own that will flash ficms and such.

There are two programs that will do what your wanting to do. Autoenginuity and PT DIAG, I have both and I use both. AE is by far the cheapest route to go, but you'll need to get the Ford Enhancement options for it to work on Ford diesels.

I would highly suggest the AE software.

I purchased the AE scan tool software two years ago for ~$200 (including the enhanced Ford package). It has paid for itself on my wife's V10 EX; TS sensor and COP diognostics, did work myself. I'll plug it into the F250 6.0 every six months or so just to check things out.

All it really takes is 2 or 3 scans of the computer and it'll pay for itself. The dealership here charges 100 to hook it up to the computer. I would assume that's the standard.
