One thing to keep in mind. The load rating letter designates the number of plys in the sidewall. More plys should hold more weight due to a higher pressure. Once you get into oversized tires it gets trickier.
IE: a 40x13.5 E carrys almost two thousand pounds less than a 39x18 D
I have always stuck with the E load rating and run the pressure at the high end. I like to keep the wear down and the fuel milage up (to 10)
Question. At school tomorrow I need to move a cat gen set around the school is this a bad idea with the tires I have. It won't be over 1/2 a mile
It's probably a bad idea to delay getting back to the tire dealer to complain and make them make it right. But as far as safety, driving a half mile at 25 mph or less would not worry me in the least. Of course, that's without knowing the weight of the genset, or seeing the bulge in the sidewalls.

I already went back to them and they already ordered me new tires that I am going to go get today!
