I have a 2001 7.3 diesel that I want to put duel exhaust on. What size do exhaust pipe I need to go with? 3 or 4 inch? Is there a kit out there that I can install myself or do I need to go to a custom muffler shop? What mufflers do you recomment?
You do not want to go with any 3" kit for a 7.3... dual 3" would be a step back from the stock system... Some local "muffler" shops will try and build you a 3" kit because thats the biggest they can bend...
The MBRP system Clay mentioned is the one I run, and its been on for about 4 years now without issue.
Got the 4inch turbo back MBRP cool duals t-409 SS, put them in myself, nice system , sounds great. Just want to let you know, you get the same performance from duals that you would get from a single exhaust. I got the duals cause I like the looks..
You can't get true dual exhaust out of this engine. Only single to duals. We have a turbo, our exhaust don't exit from the exhaust manifolds.
Rick is correct.I have been told it does not help any bur the 4'' or 5'' will help compared to the stocker. No joke...Clay(Riffraff) will help you and bet it will be a better price!!!
I have Diamond Eye 4" duals on my truck (single 4" split to duals near the rear axle, just like the other dual kits for PSD's) and DO NOT recommend them to anyone. Getting the 2 tailpipes to fit was difficult at best and required some "customizing" of the splitter pipe and welding the entire system together. Plus, they still rub on my effing spare tire and have melted a small part of it (no big deal, but it pisses me off all the same). If you want duals, MBRP or bust. I wish I had spent the extra $ for them.
