looking for suggestions/tips on best method and paint/primer for painting diff covers... i have spent the better part of the afternoon with a wire brush and my drill with a wire brush trying to clean them is it better to sandblast them? Or will the wire brush tactic work well enough? and as far as paint/primer goes any high temp krylon would work? thanks in advance!
I went to Ford last year when I did mine and bought a 2008 diff cover.. Its a finned verision and pretty decent for around $45-$50. Then if you don't like silver, you have a nice clean new cover to paint the color of your choice..
The bolt pattern is the same for our trucks, but you need different bolts.

Longer bolts? Can you be more specific on the difference? That's a pretty good price on the cover. I've got to change my diff fluid in about 9k miles, so I might upgrade the cover at the same time.

I don't remember the exact difference but yes, the bolts to attach the 08 diff cover are longer because the 08 cover is thicker. Diesel Manor sold the cover and bolts to me so it was not that much of problem for me. Sorry, should have taken pics but was too excited to get it on that night.
