today i installed the short throw shifter that i ordered from mid west trans; they said that it would shorten the throw by 40% and it sure did! it turned my tractor like shifter into a mustang!! anyways it was $175.00; alot better than $400 which is how much the BD diesel shifter is.....
i called them and talked to Dan, it did not lower the stick, it actually raised it an inch, which is not enough to notice at all, i do think it was worth the money, less RPM drop between gears, VERY noticable between 2-3, also with less slop. the only thing to think about is that its still a tractor transmission, and with a short throw, the shifter moves just a second faster then the sycros do..
Do you find yourself grinding gears before the synchros fully mesh? For the sake of the transmission, only jam through the gears when you need to show off or race or things like that, save the synchros by letting them mesh.
