Ok so i have been having a rough kind of shaking when accelerating. I have done a drain and fill on the tranny fluid looked pretty good still, transluscent and could still the read so not dirty. I changed the gear oil to synthetic RP. Now the only thing left to worry about is the driveshaft.
I have a small metal piece sticking out of the driveshaft right at the split. It looks like the clip on a pen(small thin piece of metal. It is hanging halfway out but i cant free it. Is that supposed to be there? Im leaning towards not.
The other symptom it is having is when my trailer is hooked up (about 4k lbs) and i hit a dip on the interstate it makes a sound and feels like the truck is bottoming out. Which i know is not the case cause my truck doesnt even sag when i hook up the trailer.
So what could my problem be. How easy it to repair the driveshaft since it is a two piece and is balanced. Or what would the price of a new one be if it is easier to go that route.
I experiencing a similar slight shake.. subscribing to this post.. I did read a post awhile back that the shake could be a indication of bad injectors.. rather than driveline problems.. I thinking about greasing the slip joint soon however.. Maybe this would cure the problem..
i have heard of the slipjoint as well but couldnt find a spot to do any greasing.
You just disconnect the driveshaft at the u joint and pull out the it out to grease the splines.. I think it is designed to only go back together at a certain clocking.. so mark the shaft before removing.. I am going to use some Mystick no.2 hi-temp grease with moly.
First Mark Drive Shaft So You Can Put It Back In Exactly The Way It Came Out,
Then Take Out The Four Bolts Holding Rear U Joint In, Cut The Metal Band Holding The Boot On The Drive Shaft At The Center Support Bearing Off.
Drop Rear Dirve Shaft And Pull Yoke Out Of Center Bearing.
Put Grease On Splines And Inside Yoke, Reinstall, Slide Boot Back On And Use Tie Strap Around Boot.
