....a while back my zf6 had a lil burb and well now its in parts gettin some new hardware mainly the output shaft. So due to having my truck out of commision i havent been in this room any more and i just miss it ...lol i dont even come in to read the new topics because it makes me miss my truck... But once i get it back ima be back in hear reading up daily ...as for right now ill stick to the idi forum seeing as thats the only thing i have to play with right now...
No kiddin. Most of us haven't had to play withour ZF6, so we'd like to hear more about what you've experienced so far, and would love to see some pics.
The last tranny I rebuilt was an old 3 on the tree, so I'd really like to see the inside of the ZF.
i guess u could say that it felt a lil bounce when shifting inbetween gears... and the only real thing that we could see was the output shaft ... there was what i can only describe as a grove were the bushing goes at and when u actually put it on the kevlar bushing there was a lot of play. so now i finally got the parts from Drivetrain.com very good service bye the way... so hopefully soon enough ill have my truck back... N well jus to point out this truck has gone through alot ...and i mean alot... lol
Thanks for the pics. Definitely looks more robust than the 3 speed I remember. Looks like the synchros have come a long way too. Good to know about a parts source for these. About how long did it take for them to get the parts to you?
Actually havent recieved the parts but i was reffering to the prices and customer service pretty friendly group there at Drivetrain.com . Should be someday this coming up week when i reiceve the parts in .... As for the breakdown of the tranny it is a cousin of mine that is taken it apart and puttin it back together and well its his first time lol he is actually in training to be a diesel mechanic at a local school here so its kinda like a project for his class so he is being supervised by his teacher and they have a computer program that breaks down the transmission as to what goes were and what not... i know its a risk to let someone learn but its way cheaper then buying a reman unit or even trying to find one out of a wrecked vechile ...and trust me i looked around for a while... but im crossing my fingers everything will come out as planned.

Very cool of you to let them do that. Even if it doesn't work out I would sort of assume they would part it out and take a look again. At least that is what a good teacher should do!
