Ok, while under my 89 B2 "fixing" that damm seam that snags trannys, I found the firewall to cowl seam rusting. Time to pull the cowl and clean and reseal the area, looking around the cowl area good ole Ford spot welded it on! SO on a junk 87 ranger pickup I have , I used my spot weld remover bit(works good!) and drilled the spot welds out. About 30 min later I found they also put the windshield over the cowl too! Ford sure didnot want that cowl to come off! At least I learned the hard way on a project truck when I pushed the cowl up, CRACK went the windshield!
So in a nutshell, cowl removal on the B2's and rangers, is going to be a big job drilling over 50 spot welds out and pulling the windshield too! If I have to do all that work, I may stuff that 4.9L/AOD in as I'll be rebuilding the firewall/cowl area!!!
