Is it a big deal if I have started to weld in the front cowl and forgot to spray weld through primer on the cowl patch? The panel has the primer it comes with still on it and only the edges were sanded to bare metal for spot welding. I did spray the truck body where it would attach. It's not totally welded in but it is a good half way done and it would be a pain to drill out the welds. I could somewhat spray the edges but the actual mating surface would still be raw metal. Man this was my best patch work out of the 3 corners too, one step forward and 3 steps back as they say. Did the factory even use "weld through primer" or something similar in 1954 when they put these trucks together?
Will it be ok as it is or will it end up rusting out in the near future?
You are probably right, I'm 46 so if it outlasts me then I'm good. Well I went ahead and welded her in so definitely not removing it. Guess 3rd cab corner is the charm, this one looks soooo perdy I've taken my mistakes from the first two and learned from them (and the great members on FTE) so it turned out really well. I even fabbed the fender doubler and saved myself some bucks
I actually had fun on this corner and got it done 10x faster than the others. I'm really looking forward to getting the cab done which is the one of the major big hurdles.
