towing capacity
Hi all, new to the site but alot of info here! Here's my question, I have a 1987 f 350 dump, 4 speed, 460, its gvw is 11000, I would like to know the max towing cap of this truck? Any info or where to gather the info would be great. Thanks,,,The Newbie

I have an 87 f-250 and its rated for 12500 pounds so your F-350 out to do just fine with that trailer. You only need a CDL if your truck grosses over 26000 pounds or there is a rule for overall gross weight but you truck and trailed combo isnt big enough to require that.

Dont know what state you live in but getting a class A or even a class B has become very hard to do. Also finding a friend that will let you borrow their truck to take the test isnt too easy either. But good luck to ya

thanks, my company which is about to lay me off,,,,has decided to pay for the cdl here in PA and supply the trucks and so forth,,,I'd be a fool not to. Maybe one day soon I'll be in the big rig. HONK HONK! LOL

Depends Heavily on your rear axel ratio....With that 7.5 Liter engine Your looking at with 3.55=11,500 max GCWR. With 4.10=16,000 max GCWR. 4.63=22,000 max GCWR. With 5.13=26,000 max GCWR. So Either with the 4.63 or the 5.13 your good to go. But that was also for an 89, If there is a big difference between the carbed and efi 460's towing capacities please correct me.
