Replacing idle air control valve

How much of a job is it to change my IAC valve on my 99 f350 v10. Its the next step in my quest for curing a rough idle/skip problem. My mechanic is on spring break and I can make the time. I'm not a car mechanic but I know my way around my toolbox. Any advice would be terrific.

It's basically 2 bolts and one wire connector. On my excursion, it's on the back of the throttle body so it's not convenient to reach but should be accessible after removing whatever cover, hoses, etc are in the way. Careful, some of the hoses are coolant hoses so try not to disconnect those. If there is a fault code set, you'll want to erase it with a scan tool, or by disconnecting the battery, or removing the appropriate fuse. If you discon. the battery or pull the fuse, the ecm will have to re-learn so it may run different at first.

"Rough idle/skip" sounds more like an ignition problem though. IAC valve usually causes a stalling problem.

I agree with manglass that when the IAC goes bad it usually results in the vehicle stalling.

my Iac was causing an issue with idle. It would...surge

I agree with manglass, you probably have a bad COP/coil or a spark plug issue.
Have you ever done a tune-up on your truck?
