i tryed scanning with the engine off but the scan tool wont connect..but i removed the ecu and i found that the tag on it said 3.0l taurus/sable only? pat.3903856 pat.4116173 EEC-IV GN EFI-SD22B E7TF-12A650 ANIA *496*....im not sure if any of theses numbers mean anything but i removed the ecu cover and found a portion of the board burned..im trying attach pic's..
That does have an 1987 number on it but I would go to a salvage yard and get one out of a 1987-88 F-series truck with a 5.0L engine. It should be a truck as close as you can get to yours, same transmission, power steering, Fuel Injected, AC, Map and so on.
Do not worry to much about the numbers as it does not seem like you will be able to get them anyway.
Ebay, rockauto.com, napa, etc, or any junkyard that has a few trucks. If you're in south amboy drive a little north to Rahway, as there are at least four junkyards over there that are likely to have it. Take 35 north into Avenel to where the Home Depot is on the left and K-mart/Pathmark is on the right. At the next light bear to the right - it's a 45 degree turnoff and follow that road to the overpass, and make a right onto Inman. Take that to the end, and you're in "junkyard row". Leesville Auto is there, T&E motors is there, and about five others. Between them they might either have it, or can get it from a remote junkyard for a few dollars.
soo previous problem was fixed for about 2 weeks...i replaced the ecu and all was good the truck ran great..probably better then its been in a long time and then i was driving and the engine started running with a miss but it was still running strong ..sounding strange though and my obd scanner wont connect? im not sure what to do now....
