05 Excursion No Start.. Scanner wont link for code
Have a 2005 Excursion 6.0L. Had a bad FICM.. sent it in to FICM Fixer I believe it was and had the upgrade done to it as well. When pulling out the old one I broke one of the connectors. I replaced all three of them before putting the new FICM in. I let it sit for about 6 months before doing this so batteries were shot, replaced them. Put everything back together and started right up. Took it for a test drive everything ran good. Drove it about 20miles the day after no problem... Then other day go out to start it and it just cranks, no start. So I did the volt test on FICM everything was good. Plug in my scan gauge.. and keeps saying no code not ready. Wasn't communicating. Same scanner i've always used on this truck with no problem. Put scanner on my Tacoma and worked fine. Used neighbors Snap On mg2500 scanner and same thing not communicating. Checked pin 16 on the obd2 and was getting power there... pulled every fuse and visually checked them and everything was good. So now I'm stumped. Don't know why it would run fine for a day or two and then same problem and FICM voltage is good and scanner wont read any codes. After messing with the scanner for awhile it did finally show P2614 code. I cleared the code and kept trying to start and once again couldn't pull up the code. It only showed up on my scan gauge once and not the snap on scanner. So I have no clue whats going on. why it wont scan and why it wont start. I live in CA and its been mid 70s here.. so its def not cold weather. Thanks
did you try to run a network test?
does the check engine an glowplug light come on with the key being cyclied on?
did you ohm out the terminating resistors at the dlc? whats the value you got?
How would I run a network test? Im pretty new to all this stuff : / sorry. yes check engine and glowplug lights come on with key being cycled. ohm out the terminating resistors? The values I got for what? when checking the FICM? were over 50volts. when checking #16 pin 12volts.
Well snap on scanner should run net work test for you.
Yes if your are having issues you need to ohm out the terminating resisters at the dlc, that will tell you if either the pcm or the ic is off line causing a no start and no communication issue.
Ill try the snap on scanner and figure out how to run a net work test on it. how to i ohm out the terminanting resisters? and ya fuses are good... lighter works. fuel pump runs and injectors make noise with keys turned on. checked the top fuel filter today.. it was half full.. put cap back on and then off again and it was empty. cycled key 4 times and checked again and was filled up again. Getting tired of this 6.0 Had a warranty on it and had to take it in quiet a few times for things. Warranty was up at 98,000 miles and soon after was when the ficm went out and all this. Anyone wanna buy an Excursion?!?! haha. It is nice other than all the problems Ive had with the motor.
Ohm pins 6 and 13 at the dlc with the key off.
You should get either 0, 60 or 120 ohms or something close. The resister are 120 ohm in parallel. Iirc you hoping to see 60 ohms or something very close.
Did you do a network test yet. Thats were you need yo star for no comm.
