I was gonna install the coolant filter from gathering up the parts myself and was wondering if anyone knew the sizes of the t fittings i would have to get. I'm not sure whether to get 1/2 od on the small hose and 3/4 od on the big hose. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm kinda new to the whole diesel world thing and think this site is the beezzz neezzz!!!!!! Thanks
if you go one dieselsite.com you can print off the install instructions that have the parts list on it with all the fittings you need i went with a wix housing i did my whole kit for about 60 bucks
I did my own also. I got the parts off of Ebay. Basically, they were NAPA parts (filter head and filters). I picked up the shut off valves, hose, tee fittings, and clamps at a very well stocked hardware store (not one of the big box type stores).
One word of advice. I made my original mounting bracket out of 3/32" aluminum (easy to bend and it was in my shop) with additional bracing. Two years later, I discovered that one of the bends was cracked 90% of the way across. I remade the bracket out of 3/16"steel. I'm confident that I will not have that problem again.
Would I do it again, versus buying a ready made kit? Hell yes.
thanks for the info. i've found the filter bracket and filter at napa for around 90 bucks but if i could find it for around 60 like top drive that would be great. As for the size of the fittings i guess nobody really knows. Not trying to be a smart was just trying to save some time. thanks

You expect an answer between 10PM and 1AM? And then you say no one knows when you don't get one?? Come on .........
This place is very helpful, but most people have very busy schedules. Be patient and the information will come. If you need the information in a BIG HURRY, then say so.
that's why i said i wasn't trying to be a smart a!#. i asked the question of the size of the fittings and the two that answered didn't answer the main question. talk about people taking stuff the wrong way. i'm not asking for a response as soon as possible just a answer to my question which was what size the fitting are? sorry i got some peoples panties in a wod.

You should look on ebay for a Baldwin CFB5000 coolant filter base for about $35. You should only need one size hose, and it is 3/8" ID. Don't be concerned about the OD. The tricky part is the reducing T fitting that you will need to T into the heater hose. I think that one is 3/4" x 3/8". You can look at the dfuser site for a procedure http://www.dfuser.com/Install%20Guid...filter_kit.pdf. Be careful about some of the sizes that they quote. They give you the size of the wrench that is required for a fitting not the fitting size. Good luck.
Everything else can be made (except for the base obviously). The "T" that splices into the degas bottle is a simple brass 3/8" "T".
The "T" that scavenges coolant from he 3/4" heater hose on the RH side of the engine is a 3/4" to 3/8"...that is alot of reduction and alot of potential leaks....brass is very hard to seal once you get into the smaller diameter stuff....normally breaks if tightened too tight.
By the time your done your going to have 2 lbs of brass free floating or tapping on the RH valve cover if not secured (but I am pretty sure you thought of that).
The dieselsite kit is basic, but what sold me is the CNC(machined) 3/4" to 3/8" "T" that splices as the above mentioned. It is clean looking and it is light (ounces). I have seen pics of the menagerie of brass needed to complete this "T" needed. In my opinion it looks sloppy, heavy and almost like I am looking underneath someones sink at their plumbing.
i did not have time to chase parts down either, i bought the coolant system from dieselsite and i love it................bilstein shocks r next........
