I just changed my first coolant filter after 1k. I dumped the remaining coolant out of it and plan to dry and cut it open to see the proof. When I tipped it over to dump the coolant, you wouldn't believe the amount of junk that came out of it....and I haven't even gotten to the filtering element.
I am a believer so far. I'll post after I cut it open. Good call guys on the coolant filter recommendation.
I will be going for 2 ro 3k miles before my first change since I had the system flushed when the ARP's were installed. I am hoping there is not that much debris in the coolling system. I have 700 miles on it now and I cannot feel a difference in temp from either hoses.

Even temp. on both hoses equals good flow and little or no plugging.
who sells these coolant filters and how difficult are they to install?
I got mine from dieselsite. It is super easy to install. Instructions are simple.

Thats what I figured and have heard. Thanks 69cj. I hope to get about 2k out of the first one then I will just replace at oil change and then I hope to go as long as the fuel filters.

After the 1st couple of filters, I change mine once a year and have had no problems.
I replaced my first one at about 3K. My second has been on for about 10K now and is still flowing. I plan on changing it soon then every year there after.
As I got to 100K on my '03 without any cooler problems before adding the coolent filter, I'm guessing mine must have been pretty free of the sand to start with.
A good way of knowing if the coolent filter clogs is to feel the hose leading from the filter to the rad air bleed hose; if its hot the filter is not yet cloged.
Also, I can see the flow from the rad air bleed hose at the fill bottle with the engine running.
On a side note......I wanted the ball valves (although not necessary with the 6.0 OR mounting below the degas bottle level) so I ordered the kit for the 6.4L......the only problem with not ordering the MOTOR SPECIFIC kit is that you will not receive the filter base mount. They are the same kit (give or take extra hose).....or......purchase the ball valves for 35.00 and call it good.
I mounted it in the same place dieselsite recommends, but made my own mounting setup.
The CNC "T" that is included with the kit IS TOP NOTCH!!!!! Weighs next to nothing and eliminates bulky/heavy brass fittings that could possibly leak in the future.
