Since alot of you guys have built these trucks to kick butt.....you gotta stop them just as fast..........
I am interested in getting feedback from those of you that have replaced or upgraded your current brakes to vented rotors, larger pistoned calipers or any other type of brake upgrade to help these beasts stop more efficiently.
I have a 2004 PSD with 4.56's and 37" BFG mudders. I just don't think the vehicle stops all that great, UNDERSIZED rotors in my opinion.
If anyone has some suggestions or experience with ANY products they have used I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

i had some powerslotted rotors and ceramic pads put on my truck when i got my new wheels and tires. the reason for the upgrade was to take off as much of the pressure it puts on my leg (bad knee) to stop the truck as i could.
BTW 04 and older trucks have smaller brakes so you are already at a disadvantage then at your 37" mudders into that equation.
No kidding? The brakes are smaller than those of the newer trucks...what a bummer.
adambomb, how did the vented rotors and ceramic pads work for you?
I have 17's. I have been doing a little research. It appears that by upgrading to vented rotors and better pads, I may be able to accomplish what I am looking for....any suggestions?
I bought the ART cryo-treated slotted rotors and pads through a group buy on this forum many years back. They went on my 02, and they were great brakes. I don't know if they still offer a discount to the folks on here, but I sold the truck with those brakes on it and the guy that bought them from me still has them on there without a pad change or rotor being turned. Great, great, great brakes. I can't say enough about them.
i think the break set up that i have works really well... it's hard to explain how much better it is than the stocks (my stock brakes were in good conditions when i upgraded) but i would compare it to stopping a 07 crewcab F150 FX4. like you don't stop like a sports car but they help a ton and make a 8k lb truck stop when you need it.
subscribing, I need to do front pads before inspection in a month or 2
btw you can just do a front set of pads or pads and rotors and that would def. help if you backs are still good.
i drove around for a week while waiting for the shop to get the back set up in (they accidently shipped two sets of front rotors)
and for who ever asked about price, the best price i have found and used was outlawoffroad.com they say they will beat any price and have good service IMO

Put me down as an ART fan also. I installed their rotors and pads on my old 7.3L. I had them boiling hot in Colorado (too fast down the pass into Ouray). Absolutely no damage to the pads or rotors. Great stopping performance also.
I paid $345 shipped from partstrain.com. Google coupon codes and you will find some $10-20 off codes. I'm going to inspect the rear and if I still feel any warping I'll take em to get turned. If they are ok i'll leave them be. The majority of the stopping power comes from the front brakes so I don't see any need to have the big bad brakes in the rear.
I would say it's closer to 80/20 when you factor in the physics. All the weight is transferred to the front during braking. The rear brakes are barely holding on to prevent wheel lock up.
