Hey guys,
I'm kinda new around here and have been searching with out much success. I'm looking for a vacuum diagram for my 79 F150. I have found generic diagrams but I need to pass smog in CA. the information number on the engine sticker is D9TE-9C485-AGA. I read somewhere the AutoZone had diagrams but spent a wihile looking and could not find them. :/
You won't find such a diagram. What's on your engine? It's pretty straight forward. You probably have an EGR valve, which connects to ported vacuum through a ported vacuum switch. If you have a smog pump, the diverter valve connects to manifold vacuum. Those are the two most basic smog components. While other mechanisms did exist over the years, those 2 devices should get you to pass smog assuming everything is in working order (tune up, etc).
In addition to the aforementioned equipment, the AC/heater controls, power brake booster, and modulator valve (for automatic transmission) connect to manifold vacuum as well. In most cases, the vacuum advance on the distributor connects to ported vacuum.
The only thing I'm not 100% clear on is the evaporative cannister, which you would need to pass a visual inspection. I believe the purge valve sources from ported vacuum through a ported vacuum switch (same as the EGR signal), but I'm not totally sure.
One of the things that i'm not too sure on is the Evaporation Canister as well, I went and got it smogged but it failed the visual test. All the guy gave me was that the vacuum lines were not correct.
On my evaporative canister on my '81, the vacuum line went from the vacuum canister into a T. One direction went to the fuel bowl vent on the carb, and the other went to the bottom port on the PCV valve.
