Rocker arm studs

I have my 78' 300 in the shop right now getting machined. The machinist noticed that 5 of my studs are bad and needed to be replaced. One stud was chewed almost half way through. Any way we ordered new studs and found that the new studs don't work in this head??? They are the non-adjustable type, the ones in my head are adjustable. Anyone know anything about this? did they switch the stud style in the late 70's or do you think the studs had been changed before?

Why did he say they won't work? If they are the same length and are pressed in to the same height they are made so when you turn down the 5/16 nut until it stops the push rod has centered the lifter in its travel so no more adjustment is needed. If he isn't happy with that he should be able to substitute 350 Chevy studs which are 3/8 and I believe long enough. kotzy
The nuts on the nonadjustable studs used by Ford are selflockingso you will need those if you go that route..
