Engine Serial Number 1039779 and lower is early 99.

I went to look at your gallery and got this : This user has not created their gallery.

Do you have both an AIH relay and a GPR or just a GPR?

what??? Ahh crud I'll go look at that and figure out why it's not coming up and as to the engine serial, here are some numbers I found
Passenger side valve cover... xnvxh07 .3aca
Driver's side valve cover... JE001DV
0822695
01 Sep 98

I think the Sep of 98 says it all

Yes, that date may be telling.

If 0822695 is the serial number you have an early 99.

Pick of both AIH and GPR

AIH is Air Intake Heater.

If you found the number 0822695 and that 01 Sep 98 on a sticker like this it is confirmed you have an early 99 like me.

But mine is even older than your's. 11 March 98

BAH! Sucks!!!
So, have you replaced your up pipes? What did you do to fix them if you did and why would I want an air intake heater?

You don't want an AIH, so don't worry. I deleted mine a long time ago and I don't miss it.

Robin- No AIH on an early 99 Cali, just FYI.
Visseroth- you don't need to replace your PCM- Jody, Tony, or Bill (the big 3 tuners) can all take care of you with tuning now. Save the $100 or so you'd spend for something else. I'm running an early 99 also, I'll give you a shout one of these days and come over (or you can come over my way) and I can take you for a spin in a DP Tuned truck so you can see for yourself what a difference it makes

We were just trying to determine if he had an early or late 99. It's an early.

I realize that, but in the early vs. late post the info you have says "The late99-03 has one glow plug relay and one air intake heater relay side by side (along with early '99 CA models)"
I was just clarifying- no AIH for the early 99, Cali or not.

I getcha, but the whole statement reads "The early99 has one glow plug relay. The late99-03 has one glow plug relay and one air intake heater relay side by side (along with early '99 CA models) . Both relays are on the passenger side of the fuel bowl toward the front of the truck".

Hell Chase, you wrote it. Didn't you?

Nope, I borrowed that list from another site. The bold text is confusing, at least to me.
