Powerstroke advice
"The Early 99 has one glow plug relay." Check
"The late 99-03 has one glow plug relay and one air intake heater relay side by side." Check
"Both relays are on the passenger side of the fuel bowl toward the front of the truck". Check
Jet's addition of "Along with early 99 CA models" is incorrect if he meant to say that the early bird Cali model has both a GPR and an AIH, which is how I interpreted it.

I will correct that because I think you have an early 99 Cali truck w/0 AIH. Right?
Anyhow.......
So an update. I pulled the intake off the turbo housing to take a look at the wheel and it is a WW but it does have a little damage. It looks like it's been chewed up a little but but no major chunks missing. It kind of reminds me of a freshly used mower blade, though that sounds kind of bad.
Anyhow I posted pictures in my photo album.
Also I talked to Clay today and I'm going to see what I can come up with for cash. I may have to barrow some more money to get the up pipes replaced and I'm going to see if I can go down to Clay's. He's willing to help a guy out by helping me replace the up pipes and get this thing running like it should.
Apparently I need a couple more items for the early 99 to late 99 conversion.
I don't know all the things that I need but Clay seems to have a real good idea on what's going on, I'm glad he does because I'm still green around the gills when it comes to this monster of a sweet truck

Well maybe not a monster but is sweet.

Anyhow.......

Did he tell you what happens when you plug in AE and set it for a 1999 when you have a 2001 PMT1?
This thread has sure gotten hijacked.
I would guess it screws all sorts of things up, but I thought he had it all ironed out.
Alas, I am responsible for another hi-jack. I deserve red bean
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
His power windows still weren't working last week. I'm glad he warned me. I have 2 PMT1s sitting on the workbench.
I made the corrections on the Differences sheet.
Later Chase.
End Hijack, maybe.

Anyhow, after talking to Clay I was a bit overwhelmed with information. I mean there are things that need to be changed out for aftermarket up pipes to fit on a early 99.
My plan is to use the turbo that I have for the time being. He was thinking of changing some stuff out to make it more compatible so that when and if I want to change the turbo then I will be able to do so. He was saying he has some stuff around there to do it and that it would be easier if I came down and he'd give me a hand. One Ford guy to another. Problem is I'm a bit short on cash as I'm trying to start my own computer business up here.
So I'm thinking that I'll get a credit card for the time being and use that to pay for the trip down there so I can get my truck squared away.
I mean I'm pretty much debt free minus the house and one in store credit card and I should be able to get it paid off by the beginning of next year.
So those are my thoughts and basically what happen.
I still have much to learn about these trucks but this may be a fun adventure and a educational one as well.
It has after all been a while since I've traveled down I84, why not take a weekend trip and learn a few things along the way.
I'm still thinking about it really. I'm not sure if I want to spend almost $200 in fuel but at the same time I'd like to do it right and not have to do it again until it's time to upgrade the turbo, if I upgrade at all.
What do you guys think? I'm rambling a bit here but I have a few things to consider and sometimes speaking your mind helps the decision making process.
I have a small up-pipe leak (at least I think I do, slight exhaust smell in the cab only when the motor is cold) and I have the new donuts for the up-pipes and new O-rings for the turbo to get the job done. If you want to come over sometime, maybe I can talk my wife into letting me work on the truck and we can tear into mine so you can see what it's all about. I'm way too broke right now to do the turbo swap. Besides, I kinda like my quick spooling little feller of an early bird turbo

Robin- 2 spare PCM's waiting in the wings? a bit paranoid are we?
Guys that buy spare parts just in case someone else might need it one of these days... its stuff like this that makes me really appreciate this forum.
