Don't really come up here too often, but I have an '89 F-250 I'm trying to sell and I need to fix a wiper problem. I've tried searching....but that did squat, and I've read the FAQ's, but that didnt answer my question.
The intermediate wipers go very slowly, as in a few inches at a time and stop for a sec and do it again and then quit, and makes a loud noise, so after replacing the switch with no improvement, I took out the delay module to see if the circuit board was broke...nope. So I'm guessing its the actual motor...
So how can I test the motor to make sure its the culprit. And any tips to make R&R easier?
As with what happened to my 89 F250, the magnets in the wiper motor became unglued, causing exact problems you have. I did take mine apart and JB weld them back in place but you MUST get the magnets in proper location before doing that. Got mine in wrong place and the motor was a sllllooooowwww one. Finaly found a "new" one in a junkyard. This is a common problem on these motors.
one of my trucks did that, replaced everything, no help, finally replaced the part the wiperarms went to, and the linkage to the wiper motor. cured it. dirt had gotten inside where the shaft turns, and froze it up. mabe some wd40 might help.
