Ok need some advice and ideas as to which way me and the girlfriend should go for a truck for her. would rather a truck. we are in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range. im gonna post the pic of the truck and a lil bit of info i have on them and for yall to decide which we should most go after. or which yall would most like to have.

first the 78 F150 Ranger that we've been looking at for a week. Its a 351M with a C6 auto. the motor was rebuilt less than 10k miles ago. slight body work needed. 1000 dollars

Ok now the 79 F150 lifted 4x4. it has a 400 in it. an automatic. other than that don't know much bout it 750 dollars.

now the 80 Flareside with a 351W. It has a C6 auto its 4x4. edlebrock intake and holley carb. 1500 dollars

1988 Jeep Wrangler i dont like this truck. like 200k miles 3 transmission changes. my gf keeps wanting it. 3 grand.

94 F150 300 I6 175,000 miles. E4OD. fairly clean. business truck for a body shop. 1500 dollars

83 F100 302 C6 auto. fresh rebuild. 1250

92 F150 300 I6 E4OD. 200k miles. new tires.1000 dollars

If I were the only one choosing i'd get both the 78 F150 Ranger and the 80 Flareside. They are both some of my favorite styles and motor combos. whats your thought?
That Flareside's fenders have been hacked for bigger tires. They happen to be my favorite body style, but not that one.
It really depends on what you are looking to do with the truck. I'd take a stock or nearly stock truck any day. That way you can do what you want to it, not what someone else wanted.
The cleaner and solid truck would be most important to me no matter what. You can always replace motors, trannys, etc. but a rusted frame or body is not so easy to deal with.
The Jeep is not a truck and those YJ's are a dime a dozen and that one is too much IMO. The frames are notorious for rusting out on them by the rear leaf spring mounts and steering box.
I personally like the 78 F150 best. It looks like it's pretty straight and stock.
from a girl's point of view, i'd take the 78 purely for style. one of my gal friends has a 79 f150 and the one thing i'm jealous of over mine (1980 flareside) is the beautiful foward lean of the nose...that's just so good looking!
The stock M-blocks (351M, 400) have a bad reputation but they can be rebuilt to be pretty
dang torquey (especially the 400, its 4-inch stroke is the longest of *any* Ford engine. So,
about the rebuilt 351M, if it were me, I'd be interested in what, EXACTLY, was done to it.
Putting in a 400 rotating assembly is common, a straight-up timing set is even more
common (and IMHO is necessary), another cam (the specifics of which are determined by
your intended use of the truck), headers & 4V intake. The best people to talk to about this
engine are in the 335 forum of this site.
i like the flare side.fenders are easy enough to change.next would be the 78 f150.if it had the earlier grille (round head lights).that would have been my first.
i'd get the flareside cause their rare. I'd also get it cus it was built in the 80s, but that's being bias since I support anything built in the 80s. Just my 2 pieces of copper.
My 2 cents - go for the 78 first. It looks, from the photo, to be pretty straight and clean, and you can go from that point on wherever you want, really. Like stosh said, it's harder to take someone else's mods and work with them in most cases...starting closer to stock gives you a clean slate to work with down the road.
Hey bub, you aren't allowed to crosspost here. L2read.
i thought i would have someone saying something bout this. im just trying to get as many opinions as possible. if a mod has a problem its fine if they delete it. I was just trying to get as many opinions as possible cause many posters dont read into other sections quiet like i do. sorry.
