Shaun, our pumper/tanker has a 1500 gpm pump and carries 1500 water. Besides a few aerials in the county, it is one of three 1500 gpm pumps. Most of them around here are running 1250's or smaller for pumps.

The paid portion of the county department runs 1000 gpm pumps if am correct with 750 gallon tanks. Baltimore county only sees the bigger tanks like that in the more rural parts of the county.
This truck has the crew compartment right up front behind the cab, that way it allows the rest of the truck to be all storage. I was talking with the rep that sold this truck yesterday on another topic, but he mentioned that the department was able to take all of the equipment from the old rescue and put it on this one and they still have more room available.

Yeah in Baltimore county we have alot of tractor trailer traffic due to I 95, I 70, I 83 ( the harrisburg expressway), I 295, Mittal steel plant, many rail lines including the northeast corridor for amtrak, as well as the port of baltimore. Their squad has been used many times. Their old one only had an 8 ton crane on it. We also had the slamtrak accident back in the 80s as well as the f117 fighter crash. Their squad was not at the fighter crash but they were at the amtrak accident.
I like the cab forward designs. They really do allow for alot more storage, espicially if you have large items to store.
That is what we are thinking. The length is about the maximum that we can get into our hall so why waste the interior room for a walk in from the back when that area can be designated for the jaws, cutters, rams and then you also gain storage in the 'coffin' compartments for long, rarely used equipment.
Exactly. I am seeing the cab forward design more and more in the county. Some of the older volley stations just cant get any bigger without going to that design.

That does make a lot of sense. We have the main Conrail rail line that runs right next to the fire hall and Amtrak also runs on the tracks too.
