hey guys i have a ford three speed with overdrive tranny that came off of a 1959 352. the numbers are t86f-1 and under that is w.g.d.i.v. just curious if someone knows about these pull cable overdrive trannys and if they are good to use? hope im in the right place to ask this
thanks
They were outstanding. But the pull cable is just to mechanically lock out the overdrive to keep it from freewheeling when you are coasting.
These transmissions are electrically actuated, and a 59 tranny would require 12 volt components - a Relay, and Solenoid - which have to be the 12 volt variety, a kickdown switch which is not voltage sensative, and a governor which is a simple spinning flyweight apperatus that completes an electrical contact at a given speed.
Question is, did you get the electrical components with the transmission?
Can you post a picture of the transmission?
There have been a lot of discussions about overdrive transmissions here lately, with a lot of good information.
