I have acquired a 600+ HP, 550 ft-lb 460+ engine. Will a stock C6 from a 77 Lincoln take this much power without mod. If not what are some thoughts on what I need to do?
At the least you want to call around to B&M, TCI, Jet, etc, about how much of a stall converter you're going to need behind that monster. First you need to find out how much vacumm you have @idle. That ,along with specs on you're cam, compression ratio, and weight of the vehicle you're looking to put it in will greatly help the person on the other end of the phone who is trying to help you.
All good points, also when talking to those companies look into a shift kit. That along with the appropriate stall and possibly a heavier duty pump should hold up behind normal driving. However with a powerplant like that who wants to drive normal.

"who wants to drive normal" that is a wonderful thought :-)
Hi, The C6 is an awesome transmission ! I've seen the fluid in them boil over out of the dip stick tube. Problem with your application is the valve bodies in lincoln C6's are designed to shift very smooth for a nice smooth ride, this causes allot of clutch slipage which will dramaticlly shorten the life of the trans in a high HP application. Save yourself allot of headaches by spending 50 bucks on a shift kit, it'll reprogram the hyd circuit in the valve body for nice crisp shifts which will extend the life of the clutches, steels and bands. Another bit of insurance you might want to employ is the use of synthetic fluid, it handles heat much better than petro base........oh yea, use a transmission oil cooler for sure! Hope this will help someone out.
Thanks for all of the suggestions and support for the C6. I have located a shift kit and someone to help be install it. Probably will change out the clutches and bands while I am at it.
