90 F150 4x4 auto hub
'90 F150 5.0 4x4 5sp. manual transmission with original auto hubs on the front.
Wont lock up in 4x4 and there is grease leaking from right front hub.
Took cover off and there are slivers of metal...like stripped gears.
Looking for suggestions as to best repair options.
Light duty use in 4x4 mode ( farm stuff, bad weather, etc....no serious off road adventures)
1. Get another auto hub from junk yard?
2. Buy new auto hub from dealer?
3. Relace both front hubs with manual locking hubs?
Is this something I can do myself with normal mechanical skills and no special tools?
This truck has 233K on her and is the best vehicle I've ever owned. Bought her new July 4, 1990.
