I've been searching for the answer to a front end swap question but cannot seem to find the right information. I have a '93 f250 with the famous "twin traction beam" front axle but I have access to a '93 f350 "monobeam" front axle and was wondering if this swap is possible or are the frames too different? Everything is there off the donor truck- steering box, springs etc. but I haven't had a chance to take any measurements. I would swap in the rear springs as well. thanks for any info anyone can provide.
yes you can do the swap... I did mine about a year ago. I would recommend getting the front springs as well as the rear blocks if you can... the rear spring packs are the same on the F250HD'd and the F350's (F350's having taller rear blocks)... have a look and you may be able to keep your springs and just swap the U-bolts and blocks. You'll need the pan-hard arm and the bracket that bolts to the x-member as well as the steering linkages... here's an article on doing the swap but keeping the 3/4 ton springs...
Now I haven't been able to find any differences in the pitman arm as stated in the article... maybe someone can chime in and confirm that the pitman arm's are the same.... I think they are....I used the one that was on my truck before the swap.
